The Art Deco Monte-Carlo Beach hotel and its Olympic seawater pool
Seasonal beach hotel

Monte-Carlo Beach

The 1929 Art Deco beach club just over the French border, run by SBM. An Olympic seawater pool, Elsa’s organic Michelin-starred kitchen, and a summer-only season.

📍 Roquebrune-Cap-Martin ★★★★★ 5-star from €450 (indicative)

Monte-Carlo Beach opened in 1929 and is one of the Riviera’s great Art Deco hotels. Despite the name it is just over the border in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France, a few minutes by car from the Casino, and it is run by Monaco’s Société des Bains de Mer like the Hôtel de Paris and Hermitage.

The setting is the draw: a long white Art Deco terrace over the sea, an Olympic-length heated seawater pool, a private beach and a small, calm feeling with only around forty rooms. Elsa, the hotel’s restaurant, was one of the first fully organic kitchens to earn a Michelin star, and breakfast and lunch by the water are a large part of a stay here.

It is a seasonal hotel, open roughly from April to October, so it does not work for a winter trip. Guests who want to be in the middle of Monte-Carlo should pick a Casino-quarter hotel instead, but for a summer stay built around sea and sun, with Monaco close enough for dinner, it is hard to beat.

What stands out

  • Olympic-length heated seawater pool
  • Elsa — Michelin-starred and fully organic
  • Open roughly April to October only

The rate above is an indicative low-season starting point, not a quote. Live prices are on Trip.com (we earn a commission if you book through that link, at no extra cost to you) or you can book directly with the hotel. Monaco hotels apply multi-night minimums and substantially higher rates during the Grand Prix in late May and the Yacht Show in September.

Getting there

Nice Côte d'Azur airport is the gateway: roughly 30 minutes by car or helicopter transfer, 45 minutes by the express bus, or an hour by train with a change. If you are arriving by train, Monaco-Monte-Carlo station is built into the rock in the middle of the country, and every hotel on this site is a short taxi or a walk-plus-lift away — Monaco's network of public lifts and escalators does most of the climbing for you.
