📍 Monte-Carlo ★★★★★ 5-star from €520 (indicative)
The Hermitage is the Hôtel de Paris’s quieter, softer sibling — same owner, same postcode, about a third off the rate. It sits on the ridge just behind the Casino, so the best rooms look down over Port Hercule and the Rock rather than onto the square.
Its centrepiece is the Jardin d’Hiver, a circular Winter Garden lounge under a stained-glass and wrought-iron dome long attributed to the workshop of Gustave Eiffel. Afternoon tea under it is one of the few genuinely grand, genuinely relaxed experiences in the Principality.
Guests share the Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo with the Hôtel de Paris, reached on foot without stepping outside — which matters far more than you would expect in a town built on steep hills.
What stands out
- Eiffel-attributed stained-glass Winter Garden
- Sea-view rooms over Port Hercule
- Connected to the Thermes Marins spa

The rate above is an indicative low-season starting point, not a quote. Live prices are
on Trip.com (we earn a commission if you book through that link, at no extra cost to
you) or you can book directly with the hotel. Monaco hotels apply multi-night
minimums and substantially higher rates during the Grand Prix in late May and the Yacht
Show in September.
Getting there
Nice Côte d'Azur airport is the gateway: roughly 30 minutes by car or helicopter
transfer, 45 minutes by the express bus, or an hour by train with a change. If you are
arriving by train, Monaco-Monte-Carlo station is built into the rock in the middle of
the country, and every hotel on this site is a short taxi or a walk-plus-lift away —
Monaco's network of public lifts and escalators does most of the climbing for you.
