Starting in Monaco

Tours & tickets in the Principality

Everything that starts inside Monaco itself — ideal if you are already staying here.

The Monaco Grand Prix circuit running along Port Hercule Hop-on hop-off from $30
🕒 1-day ticket 📍 Port Hercule ⭐ 4.4 (2954)

Monaco Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour on the Formula 1 Circuit

The single most practical ticket in Monaco, and the one that solves the country’s real problem: it is built on a cliff. The route follows most of the Formula 1 circuit and links the Rock, the Casino quarter, Larvotto and Fontvieille, so you can see everything without climbing anything. With nearly 3,000 reviews it is also the most road-tested option in the Principality.

  • Follows most of the Grand Prix circuit
  • Links the Rock, the Casino, Larvotto and Fontvieille
  • Valid all day — hop off wherever you like
Superyachts moored in Port Hercule with Monaco rising behind Boat cruise from $40
🕒 50 minutes 📍 Port Hercule ⭐ 4.6 (499)

Monaco Sightseeing Boat Cruise

Monaco was built to be seen from the water, and fifty minutes offshore is the only way to take in the whole amphitheatre at once — the Rock, the Casino terraces, the apartment towers stacked up the hillside. It is also the cheapest way to get a proper look at the superyacht fleet in Port Hercule, which in summer is the real show.

  • The full Principality skyline from offshore
  • Superyachts in Port Hercule and Fontvieille
  • Short enough to slot into any afternoon
The Monaco Grand Prix circuit passing the swimming pool complex Motorsport from $69
🕒 Approx. 2.5 hours 📍 Monte-Carlo ⭐ 4.9 (611)

Monaco Formula One Circuit Guided Walking Tour

The highest-rated tour in Monaco, and it is easy to see why. The circuit is a set of ordinary public roads for 51 weeks of the year — walking it is free, but doing it with a guide is what turns a street into a racetrack. You stand at the Fairmont Hairpin and understand why it is taken at 30 mph, you see how little run-off there is at Tabac, and you get a century of stories attached to each corner.

  • Sainte Dévote, the Fairmont Hairpin and the tunnel
  • The swimming-pool complex and the Rascasse
  • How the circuit is built and dismantled each year
The Oceanographic Museum of Monaco rising from the cliff face Entry ticket from $24
🕒 Valid 1 day 📍 Monaco-Ville ⭐ 4.5 (2094)

Oceanographic Museum of Monaco Ticket

Better than most aquariums, because it was never really meant to be one. Prince Albert I — a serious oceanographer as well as a monarch — built it into the cliff face in 1910 as a research institution, and Jacques Cousteau directed it for thirty years. The building itself, a monumental facade rising straight out of the rock above the sea, is as much of the attraction as the tanks.

  • Albert I’s 1910 cliff-face building on the Rock
  • Shark lagoon and Mediterranean species
  • Rooftop terrace with views along the coast
A narrow street in Monaco-Ville, the old town on the Rock Walking tour from $45
🕒 Approx. 3–3.5 hours 📍 Monaco-Ville ⭐ 4.8 (64)

Monaco & Monte-Carlo Walk: Casino, F1, Harbour & Old Town

The best way to make sense of a country you can cross on foot. A local guide takes you up the Rock to Monaco-Ville — the Prince’s Palace, the cathedral where Grace Kelly is buried — then down through La Condamine to the harbour and up to the Casino. Three hours here saves you a day of wandering, because Monaco’s layout is vertical and genuinely confusing on a first visit.

  • The Prince’s Palace and the old town lanes
  • Port Hercule and the Grand Prix harbour section
  • Casino Square and the Belle Époque quarter
Monaco and its harbours seen from the air Scenic flight from $896
🕒 20 minutes 📍 Fontvieille heliport ⭐ 4.9 (24)

20-Minute Panoramic Flight from Monaco

The helicopter transfer from Nice is a Monaco institution; this is the same idea turned into a sightseeing flight. Twenty minutes out of the Fontvieille heliport gives you the Principality, Cap Martin, Èze and the whole sweep of the coast from above — the only vantage point from which Monaco’s scale actually makes sense. Priced per group of up to five.

  • The Principality and the Riviera from the air
  • Departs the Fontvieille heliport
  • Priced per group, up to five passengers
Open Mediterranean water off the coast near Monaco Wildlife from $98
🕒 Approx. 4.5 hours 📍 Port Hercule ⭐ 4.4 (19)

Monaco Cetacean Watching Boat Cruise

Monaco sits on the edge of the Pelagos Sanctuary, a protected stretch of the Mediterranean between France, Monaco and Sardinia that holds fin whales, sperm whales and several dolphin species. This heads out into deep water for the afternoon. Sightings are never guaranteed, but the Pelagos is genuinely one of the better places in Europe to try.

  • Into the Pelagos Sanctuary’s deep water
  • Fin whales, sperm whales and dolphins
  • A half-day out of Port Hercule
Arriving from the Riviera

Monaco day trips from Nice & the coast

The classic Riviera excursions, which pair Monaco with Èze, the Corniche roads and the coast. Worth booking even if you are based in the Principality.

The medieval hilltop village of Èze above the Mediterranean Day trip from $52
🕒 Approx. 5 hours 📍 From Nice ⭐ 4.5 (6834)

From Nice: Èze, Monaco & Monte-Carlo Half-Day Trip

The most-booked Riviera excursion there is, with nearly 7,000 reviews. The classic route: the medieval hill village of Èze, the Corniche roads with their viewpoints, and free time in Monte-Carlo. Worth booking even if you are staying in Monaco — run it as a way to see the coastline you are looking at from your balcony.

  • Èze village and its clifftop setting
  • The Corniche roads and their viewpoints
  • Free time in Monte-Carlo and at the Casino
Monaco and the Larvotto seafront lit up after dark Night tour from $75
🕒 Approx. 5 hours 📍 From Nice ⭐ 4.4 (331)

Formula 1 Track, Monaco & Monte-Carlo Night Tour

Monaco after dark is a different country — the Casino square floodlit, the harbour full of lit-up yachts, the hillside a wall of windows. This is the answer if you are based in Nice and do not want to leave on the last afternoon train, and it covers the circuit and Monte-Carlo when both are at their most theatrical.

  • The Casino quarter and harbour after dark
  • The Grand Prix circuit lit up at night
  • Return transport from Nice included
The coastline between Nice and Monaco seen from the sea Transport from $62
🕒 Valid 1 day 📍 From Nice ⭐ 4.7 (988)

Nice to Monaco Round-Trip Ferry Tickets

The nicest way to arrive. Instead of the train tunnel or the coast road, you come into Port Hercule by sea, which is how Monaco was meant to be approached — the Rock and the Casino terraces rising ahead of you. Sold as a round trip, so you can spend the day and sail back in the evening light.

  • Arrive into Port Hercule by water
  • The Riviera coastline from offshore both ways
  • A full day in Monaco between crossings
A Corniche road winding along the cliffs above the Mediterranean near Monaco Luxury drive from $435
🕒 Approx. 1.5 hours 📍 Villefranche-sur-Mer ⭐ 5 (337)

Guided Ferrari Tour: Monaco & Èze

A perfect five-star rating across more than 300 reviews, which is rare. You follow a guide through the Corniche roads to Èze and Monaco in a Ferrari — the roads these cars were built for, and the one part of the Riviera where arriving in one is entirely unremarkable. Priced per group rather than per person.

  • Drive the Corniche roads to Èze and Monaco
  • Priced per group, up to two people
  • The highest-rated experience on the Monaco list

Doing Monaco without a tour

Monaco rewards walking more than almost any place its size, largely because the interesting things are stacked vertically and connected by around 80 free public lifts and escalators. A good self-guided day: start on the Rock for the changing of the guard at 11:55am, walk the Rue des Remparts for the view down over Fontvieille, visit the Oceanographic Museum, then take the lift down to Port Hercule for lunch at the Condamine market.

In the afternoon, walk the harbour to the tunnel — you are on the Grand Prix circuit the whole way — climb to the Place du Casino, and finish on the terrace of the Café de Paris. That is a full day, costs almost nothing beyond a museum ticket and lunch, and covers the entire country.

Where a guide genuinely helps

  • The Grand Prix circuit, where the stories are the whole point
  • The Casino's private rooms, which you cannot simply wander into
  • Day trips along the Corniches, where you do not want to be driving and looking

Monaco tours: your questions answered

Frequently asked questions

What is the best tour in Monaco?

For value and coverage, the hop-on hop-off bus — it follows most of the Formula 1 circuit and solves the fact that Monaco is built on a cliff. For the single best-rated experience, the Formula One circuit walking tour. If you only do one thing, take the 50-minute harbour cruise: Monaco was built to be seen from the water.

Do I need to book Monaco tours in advance?

Usually a day or two ahead is plenty. The exceptions are Grand Prix week in late May, the Yacht Show in late September and the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters in April, when everything sells out weeks ahead. Most GetYourGuide tours offer free cancellation, so there is no cost to booking early.

Can you visit Monaco as a day trip from Nice?

Easily, and most people do. The train takes about 25 minutes and runs frequently. Guided day trips usually pair Monaco with Èze and the Corniche roads, which is a better use of a day than Monaco alone — and the Nice-to-Monaco ferry is the nicest arrival of the lot.

How long do you need in Monaco?

A day covers the Rock, the Casino quarter and the harbour on foot. Two days lets you add the Oceanographic Museum, the Exotic Garden, a beach afternoon at Larvotto and a proper dinner. Beyond that you are using Monaco as a Riviera base, which is a perfectly good plan.

Are the prices on this page accurate?

They are indicative "from" prices, taken from the GetYourGuide listing to show you roughly what tier each tour sits in. They move with season and demand, and per-group tours are priced for the whole group rather than per person. The live-availability widget on this page always shows real current prices.
