📍 Roquebrune-Cap-Martin ★★★★★ 5-star from €900 (indicative)
The Maybourne Riviera opened in 2021 on a steep clifftop above Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, on the French side of the border. It is the Riviera’s newest big-name luxury hotel, from the group behind Claridge’s and The Connaught in London, and it was designed so that nearly every room looks out over the sea, with Monaco’s skyline on one side and the Italian coast on the other.
Dining is a major reason to stay. The hotel has restaurants by Mauro Colagreco, whose Mirazur is just along the coast in Menton, and by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, plus several bars and a pool terrace that cascades down the cliff. There is also a spa, a beach club reached by a complimentary shuttle, and around 65 rooms and suites, so it feels exclusive rather than large.
It is among the most expensive places to stay near Monaco, with rates starting well above the Monte-Carlo palace hotels. It is about ten minutes by car from the Casino, so plan on taxis or the hotel’s transfers in the evening. It suits couples and travellers who want views and quiet, and who are happy being outside the Principality.
What stands out
- Sheer clifftop position, 360° sea views
- Restaurants by Mauro Colagreco and Jean-Georges
- A short drive from Monte-Carlo

The rate above is an indicative low-season starting point, not a quote. Live prices are
on Trip.com (we earn a commission if you book through that link, at no extra cost to
you) or you can book directly with the hotel. Monaco hotels apply multi-night
minimums and substantially higher rates during the Grand Prix in late May and the Yacht
Show in September.
Getting there
Nice Côte d'Azur airport is the gateway: roughly 30 minutes by car or helicopter
transfer, 45 minutes by the express bus, or an hour by train with a change. If you are
arriving by train, Monaco-Monte-Carlo station is built into the rock in the middle of
the country, and every hotel on this site is a short taxi or a walk-plus-lift away —
Monaco's network of public lifts and escalators does most of the climbing for you.
