The Fairmont Monte Carlo above the Fairmont Hairpin of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit
Grand hotel

Fairmont Monte Carlo

Built out over the sea on the Grand Prix circuit’s most famous corner. The rooftop pool looks down on the Fairmont Hairpin, which makes race week here unlike anywhere else.

📍 On the F1 circuit ★★★★ 4-star from €320 (indicative)

The Fairmont is the big one — around 600 rooms, the largest hotel in Monaco — and it is built on a platform over the water between the Casino and Larvotto. The tunnel of the Grand Prix circuit runs underneath it and the Fairmont Hairpin, the slowest corner in Formula 1, wraps around its base.

That geography is the whole appeal. During the Monaco Grand Prix the rooftop terrace is one of the best vantage points on the circuit and is sold as a hospitality package months ahead. For the rest of the year the rooftop is simply a heated pool with a very good view.

Rooms are more contemporary-international than Belle Époque, and rates sit materially below the SBM palaces — a sensible pick if you want a central location and a sea view without a four-figure nightly rate.

What stands out

  • Directly above the Fairmont Hairpin
  • Rooftop pool and Nobu Monte-Carlo
  • Between the Casino and Larvotto beach

The rate above is an indicative low-season starting point, not a quote. Live prices are on Trip.com (we earn a commission if you book through that link, at no extra cost to you) or you can book directly with the hotel. Monaco hotels apply multi-night minimums and substantially higher rates during the Grand Prix in late May and the Yacht Show in September.

Getting there

Nice Côte d'Azur airport is the gateway: roughly 30 minutes by car or helicopter transfer, 45 minutes by the express bus, or an hour by train with a change. If you are arriving by train, Monaco-Monte-Carlo station is built into the rock in the middle of the country, and every hotel on this site is a short taxi or a walk-plus-lift away — Monaco's network of public lifts and escalators does most of the climbing for you.
